Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation is performed to enhance the size and shape of the breasts or to correct asymmetry. Dr. Mathieson will explain the surgical approach, as well as, provide education and explanation of the benefits and risks of the different types of implants available, both saline and silicone gel filled. He will help you determine the best choice for you including an opportunity to handle and “try on” the implants.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
When breast tissue becomes droopy or the skin has stretched out, such as following massive weight loss or post-partum, the breasts may be lifted back to their normal position to achieve an aesthetically pleasing result. Dr. Mathieson reshapes the breast tissue itself, removes excess skin, and repositions the nipple in order to achieve this result. If you desire more volume, as well as lift, a simultaneous augmentation may be performed.
Breast Reduction
In patients with large, heavy breasts, reduction of the breast tissue often relieves symptoms of neck and back pain, shoulder grooving, poor posture, and persistent rashes under the breasts. Dr. Mathieson removes portions of breast tissue and skin, elevates the nipple to its normal position, and reshapes the breast to create smaller, attractive, more comfortable breasts. Following breast reduction, many women benefit from both physical and lifestyle improvements.
Breast Reconstruction
Modern surgical technology makes it possible to construct a natural looking breast after mastectomy (breast removal) for breast cancer or other diseases. This procedure may be done in stages beginning at the time of the original mastectomy or may begin after surgery and/or chemotherapy or radiation therapy are completed. There are several ways to reconstruct the breast, both with or without implants, tissue expanders, and/ or muscle flaps. Dr. Mathieson and your surgeon performing the mastectomy will work closely with you to determine which approach will work best for you. Assymetry procedure for the opposite breast is also available.
Gynecomastia Correction of the Male Breast
Men may develop enlargement of the breasts, either on one or both sides of the chest. Dr. Mathieson may correct this condition with either surgical removal of breast tissue or liposuction of the chest or a combination of both.
Breast Fat-Grafting
Fat transfer breast augmentation essentially uses liposuction to take fat from other parts of your body and inject it into your breasts. This is a breast augmentation option for women who are looking for a relatively small increase in breast size and would prefer natural results.
